Supanova 2011! (Australia's fairly pathetic version of ComicCon)

Hello all :)

I had a lovely busy Saturday, geeking out at supanova! Tons of comic books and figures and weapons and costumes, it was so much fun! I went by myself which was wicked fun, i got a close glimpse of Tom Felton! (Honestly i was really sad that Tom Felton was there because it meant that Cary Elwes didnt come :( HE'S FRIGGIN WESTLEY!) anywho, it was so cool wandering around, seeing everything, and here's the highlights:

Me and the stormtroopers!!!! (they let me hold a gun so therefore they ROCK) (side note...it was a fake gun) (2nd side note...my King Kong t-shirt is really cool)

Me and one of my favourite characters of all time! Rorschach from Watchmen!

Now to the wondrous purchases :)

the graphic novel that Wanted is based on, i'm sooo excited to read it!

volume 1 of a newer zombie series that the guy at the comic store highly recommended :)

and the graphic novel that Kick Ass is based on, really excited to read this one :)

and finally, because i'm such a nerd, a Back To The Future t-shirt :) that trilogy is just so amazing!

So yes, i fully enjoyed embracing my nerdy side for the day, it was awesome!!!

:) till next time

Happy Birthday Veronica! (and my latest art project)

Hello everyone!
I promise i'll be posting more regularly now!

So on Friday night i went to a very fun get together for my totally awesome friend Veronica's birthday! We trekked it from school to her house (ok it wasn't too far but with school bags it DID seem like a trek!) and there we gave her lovely gifts! My gift consisted of two books.

a cute little book journal!

andddd....

.
.

a completely hilarious book of Chuck Norris facts!

The group of us sat lounged around Veronica's hallway chilling out (i read a few of the ridiculously funny facts about Chuck Norris) and when we heard someone enter the house downstairs Veronica shouted out, assuming it was her sister. A few loudly shouted sisterly nicknames later we figured out it was the cleaners... (insert awkward turtle here)

So...we went out to the markets in Fremantle and saw a movie and hopped on the train to go back to Veronica's house. A group of year 12 students are of course very normal and mature(not) and so as per usual we spent the majority of the train ride combing the boys' hair

(^after the combing of Armin's hair)
(Robert looking his best and Ayesha and I in the reflection of the window. Oh! and Jeremy combing his hair in the reflection as well!)

Yea that's right. we're really cool!!!

And now we come to a picture of the lovely birthday girl, Veronica :)

It's actually her birthday TODAY!!! (Tuesday) So, happy birthday Merlin buddy, fellow Bradley James fanatic(drool...shirtless arthur), James McAvoy fanatic, Lit buddy, ancient history study buddy, fellow Green Day concert attendee(Billy Joe's BUT!), Peanut Butter M&M buddy, fellow theatre lover (most recently A Midsummer Night's Dream), and dressing-up-fancy-like-to-go-see-dear-john-and-take-lots-of-tissues buddy!

(^Yea, Veronica is amazing!)

So, back to her birthday celebration. We went back to her house, and ate yummy dinner, and had lovely poppy-seed cupcakes (mmmmmm) and spent a very long time watching funny youtube videos! Here's to the funnest party a truly awesome group of people! (*clink!*)

(^Alex in his awesome fake ray-bans and Jeremy. Two very cool kids!)

(^and Alex again, yea he's really crazy, but he's also a wonderful friend!)

Soooo...thats about it for my Friday night adventures, now to more recent times and i spent most of sunday evening working on a detailed sketch/drawing for my art project for school

It's based on a picture i took of a street alongside the Duxton hotel in the Perth city, and it's not finished yet, i need to add a lamp post and a row of tall trees. I'm planning on eventually making it a nighttime painting with the trees covered in christmas lights and and the garlands wrapped around the pillars to have christmas lights too, and ofcourse the lamp will be lit up and fiery. So yea, early development stages at this point, but its gonnu end up looking pretty cool :) and the title/them of this painting will be "Life Sparkles Like A City At Night", so i felt it was appropriate to share about it on my blog of the same name :D

More to come :)

Why my blog is called "Life Sparkles Like A City At Night"

figure that i should explain the title of my blog, i'm quite proud of it!

Once, about 3 years ago, i was ripping up National Geographic magazines to use to collage the front of my art sketchbook. One large caption that i ripped out was from a piece about sea creatures from the deep. I remember there were a lot of pictures of tropical fish and coral. A large caption that was taken from the piece and was plastered over a two page spread of pictures of underwater wildlife read something along the lines of "down in the reef life sparkles like a city at night" (okay thats not the exact quote but it sounded very National Geographic word-ey)

I just love the image of a sparkling city at night and all of the memories associated with it, and i always live my life to the fullest and make life sparkle :)

So...this is my blog! (Obligatory introductory post)

Welcome to my blog!
I've finally started my own blog after having this account on blogspot for quite some time now... This blog is mainly to keep family and friends updated on my life. My life has been quite an adventure after moving from the USA to Australia just over two years ago. I enjoy living here immensely! I am currently in the middle of my final year of high school and am hoping to go to the University of Melbourne next year. I think it will be enriching to document part of my final year of high school with this blog and hopefully continue it through my transition into university and beyond! :) I will be sure to include lots of pictures and whatever happens to be going on in my life.

So, here it goes! (tear!) my first post on my blog!
